According to the good folks at Alabama Construction News, things are about to EXPLODE in Baldwin County. In a nutshell:
- Residential growth is driving demand for more retail space
- New neighborhoods are driving the growth of new grocery anchored retail centers
- While Amazon disrupts product driven retail, service driven retail will boom – nail salons, hair salons, pet grooming, etc
- Prediction: As many as eight new grocery stores in Baldwin County, some large and some small
- Demand for class A office space in Daphne, Spanish Fort, and Fairhope is strong and will continue to grow when the Bay Bridge is built
- Distribution centers, like the Amazon site in Mobile, will be built in Baldwin county
- Four of the fastest growing cities in Alabama are in Baldwin County
- Foley saw $41 million in commercial and residential building permits in 2016; that increased to $137 million in 2017 – an increase of 232%
- Baldwin County’s growth in the next five years will be transformational
